Twtr? It's majorly bad! Leading headteacher condemns 'text speak' for eroding schoolchildren's language skills

- The article that was published by Laura Clark for your paper the daily mail may have been thought out in a very academic perspective, However a very one sided one.  Within the article there were many point that were raised, Most of them being well fair point that are back up by some factual fact but not concrete evidence.  To blame the use of  certain technique  of communication that is used on a platform isn’t or really shouldn't be deemed as interfering with the standard english. Which leads me to the second factor that i disagree with. As a student myself in high school, It’s really important for people who have the theory that the language that PEOPLE keep in mind, Not just “Kids” or “Students” which was something that was mentioned quite a lot in the article, Which was the assumption that kids or students were the “Inventor” of the english that was being used, Which isn't really fair nor it is factually correct, If anything its the adults who seem to conform to the certain type of english. Laura clark also included studies from an all girls school in oxford which showed the effect language had on students way of writing. Now i cant speak for everyone however; I know that i would personally never ever use such abbreviations such as “h8’ instead of hate or “ur instead of you're or your due to the fact that i and pretty much every student knows that theres a certain way to write and no student who is been assessed in english class or any other educational platform would use such words. Language is diverse and there will always be new words and new methods that are going to be introduced to the “standard” side of it .

  1. To see you express your opinion but still sticking to using language that is suitable for this kind of text was interesting. However, I think you missed a few of the most important conventions of a letter which are the date, your formal name and address and finally the person you're writing to. Overall, it was a well written response in my opinion.
