TFA Gender Thesis Statement and Outline

Thesis statement: 

In Chiuna Achebe’s famous novel, Things fall apart. A strong apprehension and appreciation of the gender influence  plays a significant role in the contribution to the readers appreciation of the the Igbo community in terms of social hierarchy and central themes on gender roles; all contributing factors to the readers ability to appreciate the Igbo genuine culture. 

Topic Sentence 1
The social hierarchy in the novel “Things Fall Apart” is demonstrated through the text within Achebe’s way of portraying women in the Igbo culture. specifically  within the way they are treated by other characters and the social norms they follow. 

Topic Sentence 2 

The context of the novel “Things Fall Apart” contributes to the manner in which Achebe creates the central theme of stereotypical role for women within the Igbo community; in contrast to men.  

Topic sentence 3 

 The Igbo community are portrayed within the novel by their strong beliefs within their social norms. Gender roles between men and women are contradictory as some actions are known to be inadmissible within the Igbo community
